COMMUNICATIONS & SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER:
Position Description
Music to Life is a lean and growing virtual nonprofit advancing social impact by equipping mission-driven musicians to become entrepreneurs for change. We seek a strategy-oriented Communications & Social Media Manager to engage our supporters through a variety of front-facing efforts including: creating/planning dynamic social media content/newsletters, identifying/connecting with new sources of press and visibility, and contributing a marketing lens to strategic organizational-planning conversations.
Founded by Noel Paul Stookey (Peter, Paul & Mary) and his daughter Liz, MtL operates through a virtual office model and offers artists a network of community, training, technical support, and key connections – enabling artists to transform visionary ideas into music-led solutions that uplift and empower communities. We are team-oriented and collaborative, taking advantage of the flexibility of a remote workplace. The Communications & Social Media Manager is an integrated member of the small Music to Life team, participating in weekly meetings/check-ins, and working closely with other team members and interns to ensure our external communications leverage the full power of our various internal initiatives. Candidates should demonstrate excellent writing skills, vast knowledge of social media and press, creativity in reaching audiences, and a curiosity about the intersection of music and social justice.
Core Responsibilities
- Facilitate the outward presence of Music to Life across platforms and media opportunities
- Managing Social Media Strategy, including planning, execution and daily monitoring of Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube
- Editing short-form videos from existing filmed content for website and other media
- Designing graphics
- Producing original content
- Curating relevant content based on our brand and audience demographics
- Reaching out to Juried Artists for social media features
- Develop promotional materials for Music to Life initiatives, programs and events (including press releases, web and social media graphics, one-pagers, logos, etc) and fundraising needs (one=pagers, special event invitations, etc)
- Create monthly newsletter to donors, with additional emails for specific campaigns as needed
- Planning, executing, and evaluating marketing and PR campaigns including: building media lists, conducting outreach, identifying target audiences and monitoring ads
- Identifying press opportunities, pitching contacts, and acting as primary media contact on behalf of Music to Life
- Update website as needed, in collaboration with our contracted Web Manager
- Copywriting/copyediting across organizational needs
- Maintain/monitor Facebook Group of Juried Artists, encouraging conversation and admitting new members
- Maintaining consistent brand presence, and producing branded templates and contingency resources as time allows
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years nonprofit experience (experience with start-ups and small businesses a plus).
- Minimum 3-5 years Communications/Social Media experience
- Demonstrated experience crafting strategic and engaging front-facing content
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks on schedule in a busy working environment, with shifting project priorities
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Excellent organizational, planning, project management, and administrative skills
- Confident and self-directed team player
- Energetic, flexible, collaborative, and proactive problem solver
- Experience with virtual office (including familiarity with Google Workspace) helpful
- Strong base of social media knowledge (best practices for professional accounts, content curation for different platforms)
- Graphic Design/Short-form Video editing Experience (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)
- Experience with impact-oriented messaging/storytelling a plus
More about the position & deadline
This position will start as a contracted position through the end of our fiscal year (June 30th) at 15-20 hours a week, with a possibility to renew the contract for the following year. Compensation is $30/hour, not to exceed $14,500 for the duration of the contract. Candidate may work from their home and/or another remote location with reliable technology and strong WIFI, and will be expected to attend a team and personal check-in weekly, with other meetings as needed. Start date is January 26th, 2026 or as soon as the right candidate is identified; early application is strongly encouraged.

FINANCE COORDINATOR:
Position Description
Music to Life is a national music-related nonprofit – operating virtually – seeking a detail-oriented and organized Finance Coordinator to manage our day-to-day financial operations. This role is essential to maintaining the fiscal health of our organization, ensuring that our multi-state tax obligations are met and our grant funding is properly allocated. Reporting to the Operations Manager and finance committee, this role will require an individual who is able to work in and around a virtual, fast-paced environment, and ideally has a background in small nonprofit accounting.
Core Responsibilities

- Prepare and file financial documents
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Reconcile bank accounts
- Work with the finance committee and treasurer to prepare balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports
- Transfer grant income
- Run payroll
- Quarterly
- Prepare and file quarterly tax records (federal and multiple states)
- Review outstanding action items in Quickbooks online
- Annually
- Input annual budget and updated chart of accounts to Quickbooks online
- Review previous FY budget to assist in new budgeting process
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in tax, accounting, or finance preferred
- Experience with financial reporting requirements
- Ideally 3-5 years of experience working in nonprofits, start-ups or small businesses
- Intermediate computer skills, particularly in Quickbooks Online and QGIV/Bloomerang Fundraising
- Strong communication skills
- Capacity or willingness to learn the financial ins and out of our organization

More about the position & deadline
This position will start as a 5 month contracted position through the end of Music to Life’s fiscal year (June 30) at 10 hours a month. Salary range is between $35 – $50 an hour (commensurate with experience). Start date is February 1, 2026 or as soon as the right candidate is identified; early application is strongly encouraged.
