TIME: 8:30-5 pm CT
LOCATION: Mid-America Arts Alliance, 2018 Baltimore Ave, Kansas City, MO 64108

The Kansas City Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop - a full-day incubator for Kansas City-based musicians - launches on Wednesday, February 21st at Mid-America Arts Alliance in collaboration with lead community partner Heartland Song Network and national nonprofit Music to Life, as well as Mid-America Arts Alliance, Folk Alliance International, and Folk Americana Roots Hall of Fame. The MCA Workshop will work with up to 15 musician changemakers who have ideas for building positive, music-driven and sustainable community programs.

The MCA Workshop is a ‘deep-dive’ business-skills session where social change artists receive training in proposal development, identifying good-fit partners, and mobilizing community support. The MCA also connects artists with local community advocates and industry innovators. Finally, the MCA pairs artists with volunteer mentors for post-training technical assistance and program troubleshooting.

Participating artists receive a full package of benefits including: complimentary pass to the Folk Alliance International Conference ($325 value; thanks to Folk Alliance International), $50 stipend, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and all Accelerator training and materials (estimated total value of $1K).

Applications are now open to musicians with ideas for community-based programs; participation is limited to 15  musicians.
