James Kahn

James Kahn began his career as an Emergency Room doctor. From there he went into writing novels, novelizations of the films Return of the Jedi, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and The Goonies - and from there to writing-producing TV series, including Melrose Place and Star Trek:Voyager. In recent years he’s written/performed/produced six CDs.

His children's album, The Twelfth Elf, just won Creative Child Magazine's CD of the Year. His new album, By the Risin’ of the Sea, is a collection of original sea shanties – musically traditional, but about modern environmental challenges such as climate change, covid-19, refugee crises, and all the ramifications of global warming. It's currently listed on the upcoming first ballot for the Grammy Awards® in the Best Folk Album category. The title song, The Risin’ of the Sea, was a Finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards, and the music video has garnered awards in several film festivals.
