Huntsville Musician Changemaker Accelerator Workshop

The Huntsville Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop - a full-day incubator for Huntsville-based musicians - launches on Wednesday, October 18th at Lipz Lounge in collaboration with Lead Community Partner United Way of Madison County and national nonprofit Music to Life, as well as the Huntsville Music Office and Music Cities Convention. The MCA Workshop will work with up to 15 musician changemakers who have ideas for building positive, music-driven and sustainable community programs.

The MCA Workshop is a ‘deep-dive’ business-skills session where social change artists receive training in proposal development, identifying good-fit partners, and mobilizing community support. The MCA also connects artists with local community advocates and industry innovators like David Gallaher of Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation, April Clark of Reach and Teach, and Patrice Bivins of Valley Arts Entertainment, Inc. Finally, the MCA pairs artists with volunteer mentors from the Alabama SCORE chapter, and Maitland Conservatory for post-training technical assistance and program troubleshooting.

Participating artists receive a full package of benefits including: complimentary pass to the Huntsville Music Cities Convention ($350 value; thanks to the Music Cities Convention), $50 stipend, complimentary breakfast and lunch, and all Accelerator training and materials (estimated total value of $1K).

 

Applications are now open to musicians with ideas for community-based programs; participation is limited to 15  musicians.
