Ami Yares is a singer/songwriter, teaching artist and executive director of BuildaBridge International, an arts and education non-profit that services marginalized youth and communities. His experience dwells in conflict transformation, curriculum design; and trauma education and healing. As a teaching artist, he ensures greater accessibility to healing and hope-raising artistic experiences, especially through self-expression and arts-based self-care practices. As a performing artist, Ami’s music conveys messages of healing and hope-raising. Ami developed his “voice” while working with Israelis and Palestinians. He fostered co-creative and co-resistance spaces for youth to confront the violent status quo with hope-laden messages in music. The conflict catalyzed Ami to explore how music can speak truth to power while also bringing people together to construct visions of a shared society which led Ami to perform and teach nationally and internationally. Upon returning to the US in 2014, Ami became entrenched in understanding trauma-informed arts practices and their role shaping social policy and society. Today Ami's expertise as a trauma-informed educator, facilitator and teaching artist reach new levels through his work with BuildaBridge.
