Colescott Rubin

Colescott Rubin is a time-traveling creole musical entertainer & educator with a whimsical flair for vaudeville & circus. He is an award-winning bassist/tubist/singer/songwriter known internationally for playing originals & improvised songs while unicycling, doing acrobatics, and other stage antics. He plays sold-out shows coast-to-coast for audiences of all ages, and appeared on American Idol 2024. Past collaborators include Grammy-winners Esperanza Spalding, John Legend, Old Crow Medicine Show, Patrice Rushen, Catherine Russell, Charmaine Neville, Chuck Israels, & others. He performs at festivals across the US and around the world in Europe, Central & South America, etc.. His band “Colescott & His Red Hots”, named after his grandfather’s 1940s swing band, takes inspiration from his great-grandpa, a New Orleans musician who played with Louis Armstrong over 100 years ago. He tours with his family variety act, the Rubin Brothers, who in 2024 released their first four self-produced crowdfunded records. He graduated Berklee College of Music summa cum laude on the Presidential Scholarship, where he’s been on staff since 2021. At Berklee, he received an ethnomusicology grant to research multi phonic folkloric vocal techniques in rural Sardinia. In 2023, he directed stadium shows with the Rubin Bros Brass Band for the New England Free Jacks major league rugby team, and worked with multiple circuses in NYC. Colescott is quoted in multiple music business publications and is a published poet.

In 2025, he’s writing his first record of all children’s music and May 2025 brings the debut of the family-friendly Rubin Brothers Theater Show at the Voorhees Theater in Brooklyn, NY. His greatest dream is creating a children’s television show to equip the next generation with the tools they need to succeed through compassion, gratitude, and joy.
