Shakeenah Fentis
Shakeenah is a grandmother and long-time NW Arkansas resident. She grew up in NY, singing from age four and attending extensive creative arts classes, including musicals, dance and drama with The Harlem Children’s Theatre Co. and The Henry Street Settlement House. After high school and a year of college, a twist of fate landed her in a monastic environment. There, she gained valuable life lessons about temperaments, communication, boundaries, as well as a vast hands-on knowledge in holistic health back when "natural" still truly meant natural.
Shakeenah developed Alternative-Healing-Solutions to provide people with conscious, safer options for healing the emotions, mind, body, and soul. Drawing on her expertise, she offers services like Musical Sound Healing, which employs instruments such as tuning forks and Tibetan Singing Bowls, along with occasional vocals and sacred chants.
Shakeenah offers both Musical Sound Healing (frequency baths) and Drum Healing Workshops for all ages and genders, with a special focus on women rebuilding their lives. Deeply influenced by African rhythms, she found the drum's pulse—like the resonance of sound frequencies—to be a powerful lifeline for coping with stress, anger, and fear. She utilizes these talents—whether through bathing in musical frequencies or playing drum rhythms—to offer safe, effective ways for individuals and groups to vent, recharge, and find empowerment. These services are available to survivors of abuse, children needing an outlet, and activists seeking renewal for their just causes. No experience is needed for either form of healing. Shakeenah took part in Music to Life's Musician Changemaker Accelerator (MCA) Workshop in Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2025 before being accepted into their Juried Artist network.
