Jaime Ospina started his musical journey singing with his classmates. He then started playing the bass guitar and performing in the bar circuit of his native city, Bogota, Colombia. In 1994, he joined the blues-rock band VERTIGO and performed with them in the first three editions (1995-1997) of FESTIVAL ROCK AL PARQUE. In 1996, he started his formal musical education and traveled to La Habana, Cuba, to continue his education in 1998. Aware of his ignorance about Colombian music, he started traveling around the Caribbean Coast in 1999 where he learned firsthand from important musicians of the Afro/Native Colombian tradition.
In 2001, Jaime started his teaching career and for the next 15 years, he balanced his time between teaching high school music, traveling, researching, and continuing his professional career. In 2014 he received his degree in Music Education and in July 2016 he relocated to Austin, Texas, where he has performed extensively with SUPERFONICOS and collaborate with GRUPO FANTASMA and KIKO VILLAMIZAR, three of the most important representatives of the Latin alternative music in the city.
