Kristen Camp
Kristen Camp is a dynamic singer and songwriter from Columbia, Missouri. She has classical vocal training, has her MA in Curriculum and Instruction (K-6) from the University of Missouri, and has been singing and songwriting in the band, The January Lanterns, with her husband, Andrew, for seven years. Kristen combines her knowledge of curriculum and teaching, her passion for music and songwriting, and her desire to flip the script for women in the music industry in order to shape a brighter future for women+ in her community. Kristen teaches songwriting classes to students in Columbia Public Schools and at local songwriting camps in the summer. She owns, Secret Pasture Sound, the only woman-owned recording studio in mid-Missouri, which she runs with her husband. Kristen and Andrew work diligently and passionately in the studio to help other growing musicians tell the stories that need to be told. Above all, Kristen is a learner and a listener and takes those skills into each musical experience.
The January Lanterns is an American Indie-Folk-Pop band that formally started in 2017 by husband and wife duo, Andrew and Kristen Camp. The high school sweethearts create a palette of beautiful, yet raw truth in their lyrics and have bitter sweet harmonies that coalesce to create warm folk chord progressions infused with pop productions. The January Lanterns are active in licensing their music for Tv/film. Warner Chappell Production Music commissioned Andrew and Kristen to write a six song EP for their sync catalog. Since then, the songs have been licensed in numerous TV shows around the world, most notably, Home & Away in Australia and BBC show, Landward, in the UK. Calling Missouri home, the duo’s music caters to anyone who’s lived a life of ups and downs. After releasing their debut LP in 2022, For The Kids, When They’re Older, the couple released three new singles in 2023. The band is currently rolling out their second LP, That's What We'll Be. Their music feels like a calming warmth in the midst of deep winter with their stories of love, loss, and everything in between; two lanterns aglow in the night sky.
