Mika Komuro

Japanese pianist, Mika Komuro is a versatile artist who is internationally performing as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral player.
She made her solo debut in 2007 in Tokyo and her concerto debut with George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra in Bucharest, Romania in 2010. Additionally, she made her first London appearance as a soloist at Steinway Hall in 2013. Recently, Mika was a soloist at the Caroga Lake Music Festival in 2024.

Aside from her solo career, Mika is very active as a chamber musician. Her collaborative partners include trumpeter Ashely Hall Tighe, trombonist Peter Ellefson and American Brass Quintet bass trombonist John Rojak, with whom she gave the world premier of the piano reduction of the Kenneth Fuchs Bass trombone concerto in 2019. In the same year Mika played piano trio with string principals of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra on a concert tour in Japan. She has also performed with mezzo soprano, Catherine Keen and Grammy Award winner Michel Legrand, with whom she was double soloists on a tour of France and Denmark with Odense Symphony Orchestra in 2015. In addition, she has collaborated with the principal trombonist of Bruckner Orchestra Linz (Austria), the principal hornist and clarinetist of Aalborg Symphony Orchestra (Denmark), the principal trombonist and tubist of Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra among others. Mika was a pianist and accompanist of the Odense Symphony Orchestra in Denmark during the 2014-2015 season.

With her strong passion for chamber music, Mika founded Vox Cor Trio in 2022. The trio is composed of piano, trumpet and trombone and explores classical vocal music, aiming to share emotional journeys and stories without lyrics. Since its debut in Cincinnati, Vox Cor Trio has been actively performing across the United States.
Mika is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London, UK and is a prize winner of national and international competitions such as the All Nippon Junior Music Competition, the 2nd Romantic Music Competition and the 3rd Burckhardt International Competition, among others. She received her Master’s from Kingston University, UK and a Diploma in piano performance from the Mozarteum University Summer Academy in Salzburg, Austria. She is currently based in Cincinnati, OH.
