Gregory Messa
Gregory Messa is a freelance percussionist affiliated with the American Federation of Musicians. He has recently performed with the Eco Ensemble at UC Berkeley, The Symphony of the Hills, and the San Antonio Opera and Ballet. Greg plays congas and percussion with 'Los Nahuatlatos', a band dedicated to social justice and indigenous culture in South Texas. A husband and father of a young son, Greg has shared the stage with Gregory Porter, Keith Urban, Marin Alsop, Danny Elfman, and Andrea Bocelli. As a composer and producer, Greg creates music primarily using percussion instruments for chamber ensembles and solo performance, with inspiration ranging from natural American landscapes to the massive proliferation of personal firearms in American homes. Through his performances and collaborations, Greg continues to inspire and bring attention to important cultural and social issues, while enriching the musical landscape with his dynamic percussion performances.
