Meet Liz! She is the Founder and Creative Arts Director of the Greenhouse Creative Collective, a community-led initiative that focuses on supporting artists from historically oppressed communities and recognizing their creative capabilities. Liz graduated from Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL with a Bachelor’s in Criminology and continued her education through the achievement of a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. Prior to the launch of this arts-based collective, Liz served in the Peace Corps and collaborated with various non-profit organizations to address social justice issues in countries like Myanmar, India, and Ghana. Liz is a multi-instrumentalist who has focused on building programs and cross-cultural relationships through music, art, and education. Upon completing her higher education studies, Liz was determined to create alternative forms of healing and restorative justice through curating creative community spaces for musicians and artists. She understood that introducing music and arts-based programs amongst the youth community through different organizations would introduce healthy coping mechanisms to the stresses that emerge especially amongst individualistic societies. Throughout her international experiences, she found that music was a great way to connect communities worldwide and often is a tool used to express injustices that affect everyday people. Post COVID-19 pandemic, Liz has begun collaborating with non-profit organizations that focus on uplifting immigration, racial, economic, mental health, LGBTQ injustices by offering specialized programs to support collective goals. Liz has a passion for music and believes in the healing power of co-creating art in community spaces!
